Every year on the night of August 13, Echizen citizens meet downtown to dance the “Furusato Odori” (regional traditional dance), also known as Bon Dance. Wearing Yukata (summer kimono) people walk the streets dancing to the sound of local traditional songs.

The Echizen City International Association invites all foreign residents and travelers in the region to participate in this beautiful tradition.

You don’t need to know how to dance, the dances are very simple and we provide a training class before the parade.

Check out the songs and dances in the following video playlist

We provide Yukata for both men and women, free of charge. Small children can participate too.

Join the parade with EIA’s group!

※The applications for participants start around July every year. Check out our home page in the months approaching the event for more information.
